Scrapbook-Elements
FAQ
- All products sold at Scrapbook-Elements are in downloadable, digital form. The only products that are delivered as a tangible item by mail are those specifically noted. All downloaded files are in a .zip format. To open the file, you must have a program to unzip it. For those customers with Windows XP computers, there is a unzip utility built in. We recommend
Winzip for other Windows users or
Stuffit for Mac users. You can also find others
available at Download.com.
- The images that are sold at Scrapbook-Elements are created either as JPG format (used for background images) or as PNG format. PNG format allows images to retain their transparency so that there is no background to the image so that they can be placed directly onto your project. PNG format is recognized by almost every major graphics program.
- All images are created at 300 ppi unless otherwise noted. Resolutions of from 200-300 ppi yield great print results. More information regarding printing options can be found
here.
- Many of the small items such as alphabets, fibers and small accents may be saved as a single file. This will vary from set to set. To select a part of these images to use, use the selection tool or lasso tool in your graphics program to draw around the item you want to select. Once you have the item isolated, copy and paste it into the project on which you are working. You will
find more information in our
tutorials section.

- We recommend the following software programs to use for digital scrapbooking:
-
Microsoft Digital Image Pro -
Great for beginners, digital photo enhancements included
-
Ulead Photo Impact -
Complete
program
but not
as complicated
to
use as
others
-
Adobe Photoshop Elements
-
Downsized
version
of Adobe
Photoshop
-reasonably
priced
(PC and
Mac)
-
JASC Paint Shop -
Complete program
- a little more user friendly than Photoshop and reasonably

-

The most
complete program but high learning curve
and
expensive (PC and Mac)
The following programs
are
primarily
desktop
publishing
programs. They can be used
for digital
scrapping but have
many limitations in their abilities.
Older
versions
most likely
will not
support the
png format:
-
Broderbund Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Designer
-
Broderbund Print Shop
Broderbund Print Master
-
Sierra Print Artist
-
Microsoft Picture It! Publishing -
Junior version of Microsoft Digital Image Pro
-
Microsoft
Publisher
-

and
above
support
the
png
format
Note:
Be sure that
your program
of choice
supports
transparent
PNG format.
Programs
such as Microsoft Paint and
Scrapbook
Factory do
not.

- For those customers
on dialup -
Downloading large graphics
files can be difficult if
you are on a dialup
connection. We
suggest using
a download manager that will
help by resuming the
download where it was if a
connection is lost and then is
later
re-established. There are
many programs available. Two
popular programs are
Reget and
Download Accelerator Plus.
The
Firefox browser also
includes a download manager
as well and also has a plugin available that allows
multiple downloads at the
same time. Even those on
high speed connections can
benefit from programs such
as these. - AOL users frequently
experience problems both
with viewing sample images
or downloading their
purchases through the
AOL browser. They will
either get an error message
when they try to download or
will have time out issues.
We strongly advise against using any
ISP-tuned browsers such as
AOL, MSN, Yahoo, etc. The
shopping cart software and
the tuned browsers just don't seem to
work well together. We
suggest using either the
version of Internet Explorer
that most likely came installed on your
computer or download a
different browser to use
when shopping and
downloading. The
Firefox
browser gets our vote as
the all around best browser
out there.
Note: There
are a few sites that do not
work with Firefox
and for those few, you will need to
use Internet Explorer. - When browsing our store, you
might experience problems with
the sample images not
popping up when you click to
see a larger image. The
problem seems to occur when
you are using a pop-up
blocker such as the Google
toolbar or running
Norton
Security. Turning either
of these programs off while
you are browsing should
resolve the interference or
you can simply change the
settings to allow popup at
Scrapbook-Elements. There
are no advertising popups at
SBE. Norton is strange
in that it will even do this
on an intermittent basis we
have discovered so it is
best to set it to allow
popups at our site. -

without the express written

- When creating a layout using
artwork from
Scrapbook-Elements or
elsewhere, please remember
that it is considered good
etiquette
to give credit to the
designer for their work.
Whether you are posting a
layout or other creation in
our gallery or other online
galleries or you are
submitting to a
scrapbooking magazine for
possible publication, proper
etiquette is to credit the
designer for their art and
also mention where others
can obtain the elements as a
bit of advertising for the
original artist. All
products purchased through
Scrapbook-Elements, as well
as those downloaded through
our monthly newsletter, have
the designer's name included
as part of the file to make
it very easy to find the
name of the original
creator.
- Please
be sure to back up all products purchased onto non-rewriteable CDs for
archive purposes in case of computer failure. Scrapbook-Elements will be
able to make replacement copies available only for 90 days following
purchase in case of hard drive failure or other problems. Backing
up your purchases is your responsibility.
- No
refunds will be given on downloadable purchases. If you have any
problems with either an order or a product that you have downloaded,
please contact us at admin@scrapbook-elements.com.
It is vital that you include the order number
so that we can
assist you in a timely manner.
